The Roarsome Dinobus: Adventures for Wild at Heart Families

September 1, 2020

Anyone who follows our adventures will know that we are massive fans of exploring and getting outdoors as a family. When I came across Roarsome their ethos totally echoes that of our own here at Juggling on Rollerskates – an adventure brand for families who are wild at heart? I was sold. I needed to know more about these guys!

Story

Roarsome was established in October 2018 by friends Ed, Matt and Will. Having worked in ski resorts they had noticed a gap in the market for fun and fashionable ski wear made specifically for children. They came up with a fantastic ski range that’s not only bright, colourful and fun but is also based around a set of cute characters with the gift of empowering any little snow pixies who wear their gear. Speaking to Will he was able to explain that children can feel particularly nervous leaving their parents to attend ski school – the concept of the Roarsome characters is to allow children to feel like they have a buddy or spirit animal by their side during these anxious times. Their kids ski range has been a massive success thanks to it’s practical style paired with their unique character concept. Since launching they’ve showcased the range on Dragon’s Den, been shortlisted as Great British Entrepreneurs of the Year 2019 and won ‘Ones to Watch’ award at the Sustainable Fashion Awards. Needless to say they’ve been pretty busy!

Dinobus

At the start of winter 19/20 the Roarsome team decided to take their ski range on tour across Europe to spread the word. They sourced a bright yellow American school bus transforming it (with the help of bus conversion pro Shred & Butta) into a jaw dropping mobile showroom – the Dinobus was born! The Roarsome Tour then took the bus and the ski range across the Alps with stops in France, Italy and Switzerland. Sadly the arrival of our old friend Covid 19 saw an abrupt end to the tour – which leads us to the next chapter in the Roarsome chronicles…

Roarsome at Mac’s Farm

With the Roarsome Tour coming to an early close the Dinobus needed a new home – and a new direction! Always keen to adapt their business model to where there is a need the Roarsome team embraced the thriving ‘staycation’ market by teaming up with Mac’s Farm just outside Brighton in the pretty village of Ditchling. The Dinobus is now in its last few weeks of residency at the farm where guests can enjoy a taste of the RV lifestyle by staying onboard for a few days while also embracing life on a working chicken farm. We were invited to visit earlier this summer and were really impressed by the finish throughout the bus – it looks and feels just like a ski chalet! The children were particularly taken by the cosy bunks at the rear and loved ‘driving’ to their favourite destinations. We also loved meeting the very friendly chickens! The bus is now fully booked for the remainder of 2020 but the Dinobus will be back for 2021…if you’d like to enquire about a booking please do so here.

More Adventures

As if that wasn’t enough to keep the Dinoski team busy they have also recently launched a range of additional family friendly adventures both here in the UK and in France.

Polzeath – Learn to surf by day before snuggling up at Mesmear Farm by night. Wavehunters will provide you and your family with all the equipment and know how you’ll need to learn to surf, Paddleboard or just enjoy a coastal safari trip.

Bodmin – Ekopod Retreat offers a totally unique, luxury glamping experience in a series of futuristic looking geo-domes in a remote, rural setting. Enjoy being close to nature with a hint of luxury and buckets of style.

Courchevel – Now you’re talking! This stunning, traditional alpine chalet in the heart of La Praz Village near Courchevel is heavenly. With 6 bedrooms, a jacuzzi and Hamman, live in staff and daily cooked breakfast you’ll be well looked after AND close to the slopes.

What’s Next?

It’s a rare treat to come across a brand who really ‘get’ what active and adventurous families want from a holiday. I really think the team at Dinoski have their finger on the pulse of what’s hot and relevant to this particular market. I’ve got a feeling that we’ll be hearing a lot more from these guys. They’ve achieved a heck of a lot in two years since first establishing Dinoski – keep your eyes and ears peeled by following their updates to see what else they have in store. I know I will…
