We’re spoilt for choice for alternative experiences and nights out when visiting the capital city these days. You can become part of a theatre show, dine in unusual places, watch first class comedy or catch a band at the drop of a hat. As busy parents a night on the town is a big deal for my husband and I so choosing an activity we are both really going to enjoy is vital to a successful night. I’ve really enjoyed exploring the Encore Tickets website to see their range of nights out in London. It makes it so much easier to whittle through the vast range of options out there by selecting some of the best entertainment options and sharing them in one place. I’ve picked my favourite 5 options for the perfect night out in London….now I just need to sort the babysitter!
Theatre
I love the idea of this immersive Great Gatsby Theatre experience. Guests to the show are encouraged to dress up in 1920’s costume whilst walking around, mingling with other guests and actors and having a drink during the show. Based on the classic F Scott Fitzgerald novel join the cast in a blend of music, dance, jazz, scandal and of course plenty of bootleg liquor! More than your average theatre performance…as you’ll be part of the show!

Dining Experience
This evening of comedy dining based around the antics of The Only Fools and Horses sounds incredible. Set in the Nags Head in Peckham (it’s actually Radisson Blu Edwardian Grafton!) guests can join the Trotter family as they carry out their latest scam to earn a bit of extra cash. The evening includes at three course meal and plenty of laughs!

River Cruise
See the city by night as you cruise down the Thames whilst being wined, dined and entertained. The London Showboat River Cruise collects guests from Westminster Pier to enjoy an evening of eating, drinking and dancing. You’ll be treated to a four course meal with wine as well and live entertainment throughout the evening. A great way to take in the sights away from the crowds.
Comedy
Having laughed our way through her TV series, the thought of seeing Catherine Tate’s West End stage show next year fills my belly with giggly excitement! The critically acclaimed, award-winning comedian and actor will open for a strictly limited season at London’s Wyndham’s Theatre from 7 January 2019. Get ready to be totally ‘bovvered’ by all your favourite sketches and a few surprises.

Music
I’ve always enjoyed the eclectic blend of music and cultures on offer in Brixton. With this in mind it seems an ideal setting for Lee Scratch Perry’s upcoming show at Electric Brixton. For those who are less familiar with the legend that is Lee Scratch Perry, he has been hugely influential in the dub movement both here and in his native Jamaica. The show’s line-up includes dub music legends Mykal Rose, Tru Thoughts Mad Professor with an Electronic Dub Show. Spend the night listening to good music and dancing with a friendly crowd. The perfect escape.
