1) Visit Crowborough Community Festival at Goldsmiths Park from 11am on Monday May 1st. There are a whole range of activities planned celebrating Sir Conan Doyle and his dinosaur themed book The Lost World. 2) Experience Camp Wilderness at Penshurst Place. Learn outdoor survival skills and bushcraft at a fun-packed demonstration on the Woodland Trail at Penshurst Place and Gardens over the Bank Holiday weekend. Experts from Team Wilderness will demonstrate shelter building, scavenging and a whole host of tips on how to survive living outside. This activity is best suited for children aged 7 and up.
3) Take a walk around Lake Wood in Uckfield. This hidden treasure offers a magical walk through rocks and around a beautiful Lake. Be wary of little ones as there is a lot of open water. I would also advise decent footwear. More details available here.
4) Visit Horam Manor Farm May Fair. You’re invited to dress as a woodland animal (optional!!? ) and explore their new woodland activity nature trail. There will also be children’s entertainment, stalls, crafts and a BBQ. Entry is free!
5) Take a walk across the Ashdown Forest and explore their free Visitor Centre. There will be a pop up cafe during the bank holiday weekend (Sat – Mon) which is open 11am – 4pm.
