Review: Maier Sports Inara Slim Hiking Pants
Those of you who pay particularly close attention to my ramblings on here, might recall I gave a rave review on the Maier Sports Ophit 2.0 Leggings last year. Being such a fan of those leggings I was chuffed to be invited to review another product from the Maier Sports collection. This time it was the turn of the Inara Slim Hiking Pants to be put to the test, surely they couldn’t better the Ophit?!

I’ve worn the Inara hiking pants a number of times now, so I feel I’ve been able to really put them through their paces. The pair I’ve been given are a size 12 and are a generous fit, not at all restrictive and extremely comfortable. They are perfect for hiking delivering exactly as promised in terms of stretch and durability. They are also warm even on windy days or at altitude, I haven’t felt the need to wear additional layers when wearing them even through hiking in the middle of winter.
What I like about them
By far, as I’ve already mentioned, the thing I like best about these hiking pants is how comfortable they are. They fit really well even when climbing over stile’s or leaping over streams. They stretch to accommodate your movements without being either too baggy or clingy. Best of all they fit really well over the bum meaning there’s never any unwanted builder’s bottom scenarios when bending down!
The size options are incredible. The pants are available in short, normal or long length sizes (mine are normal). You then have the option of ordering in European waist sizes ranging from 34 – 52 (mine are a size 42 which I think is about a UK12). Finally you then have the option of ordering in a range of 13 different colours! You can literally tailor design each pair you buy.
The Dryprotec material allows these pants to dry really quickly in damp and soggy British weather. Even in rain I can see the raindrops siting on top of the material rather than absorbing straight into the fabric adding confidence that I’ll be keeping dry whatever the weather.
The waistband is soft and sits comfortably around the tummy area. There’s nothing worse than having a restricted belly when you’re out all day battling the elements – not a issue where these beauties are concerned! The soft lining is very forgiving while the belt allows you to tighten the waist band to suit your size – perfect if you’re planning a mid hike pub lunch!
My Thoughts
I really like these as hiking pants and they certainly deliver on everything they promise. For me, their main appeal is the level of comfort and practical wear they offer. I’ve been been caked in mud and have stayed warm and dry throughout, plus they wash well and are really simple to care for. At £89.95 they would be at the top end of my personal budget for outdoor clothing but I firmly believe these are a good investment for anyone looking for long lasting and functional gear. If you’re looking for quality, durability, practicality and comfort look no further – the Inara hiking pants really do tick every box.
Disclosure: I was gifted a pair of Maier Sports Inara hiking pants for the purpose of this review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
