Sleeps: Up to 6
Price: from £250 for 2 nights
Location: Balcombe, West Sussex
Worth Forest Glamping is a small Glamping site in rural Sussex where guests can stay in one of two well equipped Safari tents in a pretty woodland setting. This is the site’s first full Summer season having only been welcoming guests since August 2017. Owners Susie and John have added the tents to the 6 acres of land surrounding their cottage home near Balcombe. They now hope visitors to the site will be able to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of their home as much as they do.
We were invited by Clear Sky Safari Tents to spend a weekend checking out their incredible accommodation at Worth Forest….and we were only too happy to take up the offer! Walking through the ferns and foxgloves we caught our first glimpse of the pair of tents. Set in a clearing they looked surprisingly grand despite being dwarfed by the surrounding woodland. The wooden frames blended well with their natural surrounding with the canvas exterior giving a sense of fresh style.
One of the main appeals of Worth Forest Glamping is it’s location. When you’re on the site you can feel miles away from anywhere. The woods are filled with birds and wildflowers and watching the view from the tent porch towards the surrounding forest is the perfect way to unwind. However, the site is also easily accessible from the M23 and within easy reach from both Brighton and London with a wide range of activities and day trips to keep you entertained during your stay.
Our tent opened into a generous living space with a large dining table, double sofa bed and kitchen area. Small touches like flowers on the table and pretty fairy lights around the cooking area gives the living space a grotto feel adding a touch of magic to the experience. Yet despite feeling quite rustic the tent actually comes equipped with WiFi meaning the kids can still have the odd movie session if the weather has an off day.
The kitchen area comprises of a 4 ring gas hob, sink with hot water and under counter fridge. All kitchen equipment and utensils are provided as well as some cleaning essentials like washing up liquid. Hot drinks are made using an old fashioned whistling kettle (a hit with the kids!) with coffee, tea, sugar and milk also being provided.
Juniper comes with two bedrooms which are partitioned from the rest of the tent by thick canvas walls. The double room comes with a fully made up king size bed complete with soft throws and cushions. Next door is the children’s bunk room. Each bed space has a reading light and cosy blankets…so no need for head torches and batteries! Additional sleeping is available on the fold out sofa bed in the living area for which bedding is also provided.
If the thought of midnight stumbles to the loo puts you off the idea of camping…you can rest assure there’ll be no such antics during a stay at Worth Glamping. Directly through the bedrooms at the rear there is access to a back terrace area. Here you’ll find a surprisingly luxurious bathroom comprising of a shower, toilet and sink and a toasty towel heater that keeps the room at a balmy temperature day and night. They even provide their own fancy toiletries….not like camping at all!
During our stay the children occupied themselves in good old fashioned outdoor play. They made dens, collected firewood, explored and played football. They loved helping with outdoor cooking duties over the fire pit in the evenings…all keen to provide the best bit of firewood or the driest piece of moss for kindling. As the evenings wore on we’d sit on the porch and read stories or watch the stars. A really lovely way to spend some quality family time together.
We really enjoyed our stay at Worth Forest Glamping. The accommodation and facilities made the stay, even with 4 children in tow, as straight forward and stress free as a weekend break could possibly be. We loved sitting on the porch area watching the children play as we chatted over an evening drink. A stay at Worth is an opportunity to step off the treadmill and slow the pace right down…even if it is only for a couple of days…they will be a couple of days well spent!
We were kindly invited by Clear Sky Safari Tents to stay at Worth Forest Glamping for the purpose of this review. All thoughts and opinions are our own.

I’ve only encountered the term glamping just recently. There are lots of posts of good glamping sites and tips regarding such. This would actually be cool to try and great photos by the way! Thanks for sharing.
