The Hobbit Hide at Camp Kátur – a Romantic Retreat

October 30, 2017

The Hobbit Hide at Camp Kátur in North Yorkshire is a beautiful, romantic, yet quirky glamping pod. I am a huge Lord of the Rings fan so the idea of staying in a Hobbit Hide really appealed to me. The hide is made all from wood with large round doors that open up into a snug glamping pod.

Nestled inside you will find a cosy double bed for two, complete with cushions and hot water bottles. At the back of the hide there is a very cute round window giving a lovely view of the woodland beyond.

As the night draws in you can switch on the fairy lights to enhance the romantic atmosphere as well as lighting the bedside lanterns. Camp Kátur is off grid, which means no electricity at all, so candles and fairy lights are going to be your only light (but it’s the only light you will need), and who doesn’t look better by candlelight, right?

On the porch you will find a bistro table and chairs, idea for sipping champagne as the sun sets and your dinner cooks al fresco on your barbecue. There is also a fire pit to keep you toasty after sunset too.

The Hobbit Hide does not have its own loo, but there is a communal toilet and shower block not too far away where you can freshen up. You’ll find the communal kitchen and eating area in the same spot. There’s also a large pizza oven that is fired on certain nights. Before our visit we received an email asking if we would like to book our place at ‘pizza night’. Each pizza would be £10 and we could choose what toppings we wanted and have it cooked for us. The communal eating area is well laid out and an attractive spot to pass some time.
