5 of the most unique UK Glamping locations
Any of you who read my blog on a regular basis will be aware of my love of Glamping. This stress free version of camping allows us to enjoy the outdoors as a family without the chaos that traditional camping trips can entail. We’ve stayed in yurts, Safari tents, geo-domes and even a bubble. It’s fair to say the options you have as a Glamping guest are become more interesting and obscure. I’ve really enjoyed exploring the range of Glamping options that campsites.co.uk have on offer and have picked out my 10 favourites in terms of being unique and offering that added quirkiness to a stay. Which would you go for?
Camp Katur is more of a Glamping village than just a site. Located just outside Ripon in Yorkshire Camp Katur offers guests the chance to experience to stay in a wide range of accommodation including Safari Tents, Bell Tents, a Tipi,Hobbit Pods, Geodomes, Betty 1980’s Retro Caravan and the Rickety Shack! There’s even an onsite Eco Spa with a wood burning hot tub and sauna. Sounds perfect!
Home of the incredible Woodman’s Tree-house which has won numerous deign awards including a prestigious RIBA award Craft Camping offers year round, luxurious adult only Glamping accommodation. In addition to their tree-house they also offer the chance to stay in their yurts or shepherd huts complete with hot tubs, saunas and even a tree top shower in their beautiful Dorset woodland.
The word ‘Kudhva’ come from the Cornish for ‘hideout’ and these unique structures certainly live up to their title. The cabins are intended to offer a unique perspective on the Cornish landscape from their elevated position amongst the trees. Built by boat builder turned furniture maker Toby Sharp with a small team of master craftsmen in a nearby workshop, the cabins were then assembled and transported to site before being craned onto their cradle bases.
The project is now open to the public with the cabins available to rent. The site also hosts a temporary scaffolding reception building offering a canteen as well as toilets and showers. Further projects are planed for next spring and talks have already begun with other a host of exciting design projects in the pipeline!
At Outlandish Holidays you can stay in a whimsical fairy-tale cabin with gorgeous views or spend the night nestled in a tree. A stones throw from the magical Cornish Coast a stay here really will feel like you’ve stepped into a land of fantasy!
The Glamping Orchard, Gloucestershire
One of our personal favourites…The Glamping Orchard is a working farm in the Severn Valley. Guests can enjoy a taster of farm life whilst staying in a stunning 1950’s converted caravan or pretty bell tent, Belle. The Glamping Orchard is part of Peglass Farm, home to Ali and Rich Dyer and their two boys Monty and Jasper. They have painstakingly developed their farm over the past few years with their hard work finally paying off at the start of Summer 2017 when their toughest project, the Warwick Knight their stunning retro camper van welcomed his first guests.
