Winter Light Trail Events across Sussex and Kent 2021

There’s no better way to embrace the festive season than indulging in a family get together at one of the many light trail events that now take place annually across our region. This year sees some old favourites return alongside a handful of brand new events. Another slight change in trend this year is that these events now through from the Autumn until the Spring. All good news for those of us who love these magical, twinkly, wondrous events! Head this way to follow the lights….

Autumn Lights Sussex

Where? South of England Showground

When? Saturday November 13th

How much? Adults (16+) £16, Children 5-15 £10, Under 5’s FREE

Anything else? A spectacle of light including Sussex’s biggest ever fireworks extravaganza, a Hot Air Balloon Glow, roaming glowing entertainers, fun fair and food & drink.

Glow Wild

Where? Wakehurst, Ardingly

When? Thursday November 25th – Sunday 2nd January

How much? £14 for adults, £10 for children

Anything else? This year sees major new light installations from award winning artists exploring the impact of ‘anthropause’ (the global slowing of human activity) on nature. Brand new lodge transforms the Elizabeth Mansion into a spectacular dining experience complete with four course festive feast.

Steam Lights

Where? Bluebell Railway, Sheffield Park

When? Friday November 5th – Saturday January 8th

How much? Prices start from £110 for a table of 4

Anything else? Bluebell Railway will be brightening up the dark evenings with its seasonal lights spectacular this winter. Alongside music and narration, the train will be covered in thousands of colourful lights as it steams through the dark Sussex countryside between Sheffield Park and Horsted Keynes.

Twilight Christmas Experience at Hever Castle

Where? Hever Castle, Near Edenbridge

When? Wednesdays to Sundays from November 20th, daily from 8th – 24th December and 27th December to January 3rd.

How much? £19 for adults, £11.50 for children, under 5’s FREE (gardens only – additional charge to enter the castle).

Anything else? Enter the magical world of Pinocchio and learn about the importance of bravery and truth as part of the festive celebrations at Hever Castle & Gardens this Christmas. Outside in the grounds, take a magical journey along the immersive Christmas trail beginning in Geppetto’s workshop surrounded by his wonderful woodcarving creations.

Christmas at Bedgebury

Where? Bedgbury Pinetum, Goudhurst

When? Various dates running from Friday November 19th – Monday January 3rd

How much? Adults £20, Children £13.50, Ages 0-2 FREE

Leonardslee Illuminated

Where? Leonardslee Gardens, Horsham.

When? 25-28 November, 2-5 December, 9-12 December, 15-22 December

How much? Adults £18, Under 16’s £10, Under 2 FREE

Anything else? Includes fairground rides and Christmas market.

Ignite at Nymans

Where? Nymans, Handcross, Haywards Heath

When? 11th February – 6th March 2022

How much? Adult £16.50, Child £12, Ages 2 and under FREE. Additional charge for parking.

Anything else? Try something new, expect the unexpected with fairies dancing in trees and fiery fish glowing at dusk. Glimpse woodland wildlife sculpted in willow as you stroll along tree-lined avenues into a winter landscape filled with wonder.
