Where to catch your drive-in movie experience this summer – Kent & Sussex

In the wake of social distancing and restrictions on our usual access to leisure facilities you may have noticed a surge in drive-in movie experiences popping up all over the country. For now drive-in movie theatre’s offer a much needed post lockdown escape with many offering gourmet food and drink to top off the experience, and with most venues offering a range of family friendly showings you don’t even have to worry about getting a babysitter! This is something everyone can enjoy in safety – you just need a car and the lowdown on where to catch your favourite flick. So here’s what’s showing around Kent and Sussex this summer..


Tom Kerridge’s Dine and Drive

Where? Venue’s across the country including Hever Castle in Kent

When? 14-19 July

Which movies? Back to the Future, Grease, Jaws, 1917, Knives Out, La La Land, Le Mans, Mamma Mia, Aladdin, The BFG. Plus if movies aren’t your thing you can opt to watch Mark Watson’s Carpool Comedy Club at the same venue.

How much? £17.50 for adults, £5.50 for a child matinee or £7.50 for a child evening, under 3’s free.

What else? You can enjoy chef Tom Kerridge’s top notch Dine and Drive menu inspired by the best of old-school American style drive in servings.

Reels and Wheels

Where? Detling, Kent

When? Thursday 6th – Sunday 9th August

Which movies? Jumanji, Dirty Dancing, Toy Story, A Star is Born. Mamma Mia, The Joker, The Lion King, Pretty Woman, Trolls World Tour, Mrs Doubtfire.

How much? £35 per car (2 people) £5 per extra person.

East Sussex

White Dot Cinema

Where? Ringmer near Lewes

When? 11 July plus further dates yet to be announced

Which movies? La La Land confirmed for July 11th with further dates penciled in with features yet to be announced.

How much? £30 for cars with two people additional passengers an extra £10 each.

What else? Snacks, soft drinks, wine and beer all available to be delivered to your car. Keep checking the website for more showings yet to be announced.

Big Sky Cinema

Where? Seaford (Martello Fields) and the South Downs (details yet to be announced).

When? July 30th – August 3rd

Which movies? Moana, Jurassic Park, Rocketman, Back to the Future, Strike, Knives Out, Up, Grease sing-a-long, Wall-E, Joker, Moulin Rouge, Quadrophenia, Finding Nemo, Jaws.

How much? £35 per car (2 people)

Beach Life Drive In Movies

Where? Eastbourne

When? 11 & 12 July

Which movies? Frozen 2, Grease (SOLD OUT), the Lion King, Mamma Mia (SOLD OUT)

How much? £20 per vehicle

Chiddingly Drive-In

Where? Chiddingly near Hailsham

When? 24th, 25th and 26th July

Which movies? Dumbo, The Goonies, Rocketman, Finding Nemo, Back to the Future, Grease, Dirty Dancing

How much? £25 per car (4 people) discounts for NHS and emergency service workers.

At the Drive In

Where? Brighton

When? Sept 30 – Oct 4

Which movies? A Star is Born, Back to the Future, Grease, Joker, Lion King Toy Story

How much? £35 per car

White Wall Cinema

Where? Brighton

When? July 4th – September 6th

Anything else? Whilst not strictly drive-in White Wall Cinema plan to put on a series of indoor and outdoor, socially distanced screenings throughout the summer of 2020. Further details are yet to be announced so please keep checking their website for updates.
