Sussex & Kent Family Halloween Events 2019

There’s so much going on in the run up to a Halloween this year! It’s hard to know where to begin. From spooky trails to apple bobbing, pumpkin carving to freaky Theatre, fancy dress to haunted discos it’s all happening. I’ve put together some of the biggest and best activities for families taking place across Sussex and Kent.

Sussex

BAi360, Brighton

Sunday 27th – Sunday November 3rd

Take a flight in Brighton’s very own giant pumpkin this Halloween weekend and a spooktacular display of decorated pumpkins onboard British Airways i360 Viewing Tower.

There’s also a Rocket Workshop on the Sunday 27th & Monday 28th where you can join a rocket-buillding workshop with TV expert Jon London (Brainiac and Stargazing LIVE) in the i360 beachside events space.

Or how’s about joining a Pirate Crunching Reading Session at 15:30 on Tuesday 29th. Adapted from the best-selling picture book, Captain Purplebeard and his crew set off to find an island packed with treasure! And they want to tell you all about it!

Bluebell Railway, East Grinstead

Witches & Wizards is running across the half term, with fun and games, crafts and decorations at Horsted Keynes from Sat 26th Oct – Sat Nov 3rd.

Visitors on the 31st will also enjoy extra spooky fun, including pumpkin lighting, a disco for small children, and an additional evening train!

Plus bring a pumpkin for the display and gain free platform entry on October 31st at Horsted Keynes.

Tulley’s Farm, Crawley

19th & 20th October, 26th Oct – Nov 2nd

Spookfest

Appealing to children of all ages, our daytime Halloween festival will be the biggest and best to date with exciting haunted house attractions aimed at the 6-13 year age group.

These include the brand new Circus of Spooks in addition to classic favourites such as The Horrid Hayride and The Creepy Cottage.

The Tulley’s Farm Pumpkin Patch is also open and free of charge if you fancy something a bit more sedate!

Drusillas Park, Alfriston

October 28th – November 3rd

Shriek Week

Put your nerves to the test and get ready to come face to face with g-g-g-ghosts and ghouls at Drusillas Park! Prepare yourself for a whole host of spine tingling surprises and eerie entertainment.

Knockhatch, Hailsham

Monday 28th October – Friday 1st November

In addition to the usual Knockhatch fun there will be the opportunity to be terrified by The Containment Live Action Scare Maze! Only the brave will walk through our twisting, turning metal corridors of darkness. Every corner will shock & scare you. The Exit is there but will you make it?

For those a who prefer a their fun a bit tamer there will be a special Big Top Live Show – Dracula & The 7 Deadly Teeth. Acting Moon presents their new Big Top Live. The plot is secret but it will be FANG-tastic!

The Sealife Centre, Brighton

19th October – 3rd November

Swimming sea witch’s, spells and surprises turn Brighton’s Sealife Centre into an Ascarium this half term! The live mermaid sea witch dive experience offers a brilliantly engaging in-tank trail, celebrating the creepiest creatures of the deep, coupled with spell casting with a sea witch and a trick or treat surprise.

Little Learners, Uckfield Oct 27th & Cooksbridge Oct 29th

Little Learner messy play and mark-making Halloween specials. Perfect for younger children aged 5 months to 5 years old.

Kent

Groombridge Place, Nr Tunbridge Wells

19th October – November 3rd

West End actors will transform into scary well-known characters to perform a fabulous ‘Spooky Halloween Musical’ in the Enchanted Forest. They will be performing a musical with songs from well-known films including the Addams Family, Little Shop of Horrors, Nightmare before Christmas, Hocus Pocus and many more.

Hever Castle, Edenbridge

19th – 31st October

Join the ghostly storytelling in the ghost catchers lair or find out about gruesome Victorian tales, follow the scarecrow scavenger hunt around the grounds or spot the bats in the Castle.

The Hop Farm, Paddock Wood

19th – 27th October

The Gruffalo will be appearing on Tuesday 22nd. Plus join the fangtastic Halloween themed fun in The Big Red Barn. Come join our Hogwarts entertainments team for a fun-filled spooktacular entertaining time for all ages.

Riverhill Himalayan Gardens, Sevenoaks

12th -27th October

Pumpkin Festival: Riverhill will be holding a fun pumpkin hunt around the gardens, with the gorgeous autumn colours of the trees as the backdrop. Find as many as you can to bag yourself some sweet treats.

Leeds Castle, Maidstone

21st – 27th October

Halloween Monster Academy: Explore the Castle grounds and complete spooky classes as you go, winning stamps from each teacher to graduate from the Academy. Then at 12pm and 3pm, dance in the outdoor children’s ‘Monster Mash Ball’ and take part in the daily fancy dress competition at 2.30pm with prizes for the best costume.

Kent Life, Maidstone

19th – 27th October

Halloween Spooktacular: There’s pumpkin carving, creepy cuddle corner, spooky farm rides and daily fancy dress competitions. Are you brave enough to come along and trick or treat in our historic houses? You never know who’s lurking behind the doors!
