Ignite at Nymans – Everything you need to know before visiting

February 15, 2022

Ignite is a brand new light trail bringing elements of fire, light and fantasy together all set against the stunning backdrop of Nymans National Trust property. We visited the event on the opening night last week and loved every minute! Ignite is the perfect half term treat or mid-winter pick me up. I’ve tired to answer any questions you might have before booking your tickets or visiting.

What? A new, after dark, light trail leading you around the stunning gardens of Nymans.

Where? Nymans, Handcross, Haywards Heath, West Sussex RH17 6EB

When? Evenings between 11th February – 6th March. Closed Monday 28th Feb and Tuesday March 1st.

How much? Adult ticket – £16.50, Child ticket – £12, Family ticket – £62.00 (includes parking) Parking costs £8 per car and needs to be booked in advance. FREE for children aged 2 and under and carers.

Who? Ignite is for everyone! All ages will enjoy the experience. The trail follows a one way path around the gardens that is accessible for pushchairs and wheelchairs.

How long? The trail should take anywhere between 1 – 2 hours to complete depending on how long you want to spend looking at each display.

Food? There is an area with several pop up food eateries about 3/4’s of the way around the trail. Here you can buy hot drinks, mulled wine, waffles, doughnuts and hot dogs. There are also a few raised fire pits where you can safely toast your marshmallows.

Toilets? When we visited the only toilets available were outside the main entrance in the car park. Make sure you visit before entering!

Thoughts? We really enjoyed our visit to Ignite. We’ve visited a number of light trails in the past but this stands out as being quite unique in terms of a sensory experience -we were blown away by some of the floral smells along the trail! I’m aware that this is an expensive activity but for a special treat I think this is a really lovely event that will appeal to all ages and provide some treasured memories.

Highlights? Carrying the night lanterns, the fire breathing dragon in front of the ruins, the wicker men scenes, the stunning fragrances as we walked along the trail, the river of flames and of course…the heart arches.
