Events

Knockhatch regularly holds special events over school holidays. In the past there’s been a big top tent with the wonderful Acting Moon Events performing Alice in Wonderland, Wild Adventures and Pirates Lost Treasure. They are currently getting ready to host ‘Elf of the Shelf’ over the festive season and you can read our review of their Halloween performance below..

Juggling on Rollerskates Writer ReviewBy Bridget Williams

This was my first visit to Knockhatch and I was very impressed with the variety of experiences on offer for children. The Dragon’s Castle climbing area was probably the best I’ve seen.

I went with my partner and my 8-year-old daughter on a cloudy and quite chilly October day. We spent quite a lot of time in the animal part of the park and saw the usual farm animals along with some from different places like parakeets, meerkats etc. I was pleased to see how well cared for all the animals seemed and we had a great time feeding them with the food available. Emily was especially happy to be able to walk around with the wallabies and feed and stroke them. They were in an enclosure which gave them plenty of space to get away from people, but they were obviously happy to come and see us.

The special event for Halloween was a theatre production in the big top tent called Dracula and the Seven Deadly Teeth. This was a show with 3 actors who took on a variety of roles. The story revolved around a vampire who broke a tooth biting someone’s neck which was done in a way not to scare the little ones. There was a good mix of silly and slightly slapstick moments which had the children laughing along with a rendition of ‘I’ll be a dentist’ from the musical Little Shop of Horrors which I was happy to see. Overall, the show was what you’d expect for this type of event and everyone looked like they were enjoying themselves.

Our only ‘criticism’ would be that the park had only opened the café in the soft play area so there was quite a queue in a very noisy please before we could get our lunch. I was impressed with the choice of food available though.
