Covid Safe Halloween Events Across Kent & Sussex 2020!

Like everything in 2020 Halloween is going to feel a bit different this year. Trick or Treating is off the cards and we can only see our ghoulish little chums in small groups. All is not lost though! There are still loads of events taking place over the half term right through to Halloween itself. Yes, things might be a bit different this year but we can still get out and embrace everything this wonderful time of year has to offer. So dust off your pumpkins and get your broomsticks ready…here is the lowdown on what’s going on where this Halloween Half Term!

Knockhatch Adventure Park

Saturday 24th-Saturday 31st

It’s Halloween at Knockhatch Adventure Park this October Half Term! Bring the family along for an exciting day out. There will be a Halloween Object Hunt, huge indoor & outdoor play areas, animals, a ghost hunt around the park, a Live Stream Bat Watch, the real Ghostbusters will be visiting on Saturday 31st, exciting rides and even more spooky fun! Plus for older children (12+) the terrifying Containment scare maze will be back!

Groombridge Place

Monday 26th – Sunday 1st

During half term, families visiting Groombridge Place can take advantage of the new flexible family & friends’ ticket which allows four people to visit for £25 with just one of the group needing to be under 12.  The secret garden will be transformed into a magical pumpkin grotto with a one-way system in place. Then visit the walled garden and spot all the hidden pumpkins. If you come in fancy dress there’s something special waiting for every ghoul, ghost, phantom and skeleton! Admission also includes entry to Crusoe’s World – with its wooden rope bridge, a giant wooden ship and a new slide for children as well as the giant swings and bird of prey displays.

Drusilla’s – Shriek Week

Saturday 24th – Sunday 1st

Shriek Week returns for 2020 with some of the old favourite scares including the Witches Lair, Mummy Mayhem and Creepy Encounters and a few new spoons as well! Get ready to meet the Sugar Skull Witch who will be let loose on her spooky Segway on Tuesday 27th, Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th October. As ever there’s plenty of light-hearted spooky fun to keep your little horrors half term happy!

The Bluebell Railway

Saturday 24th – Sunday 1st

Bluebell Railway will be running a full service during half term week. Hop on board the Pioneer at Sheffield Park and watch the autumn colours whizz by en route to Kingscote. There’s also a curry night on Friday 30th ! All aboard!

Tulley’s Halloween Cinema

Throughout October – November 8th

Tulley’s usual Halloween events aren’t taking place this year but they are running a drive in Halloween movie event throughout October. There’s a huge range of films on offer ranging from family friendly classics like Coco and Trolls to some really terrifying horrors. You can check out the full listings here.

Tulley’s Pumpkin PYO

Sat 26th September – October 31st

Tulley’s have over 20 acres of pumpkin patches waiting to be picked this year! Pull your wellies on and pick a good one for carving. Please make sure you book online before you visit.

Borde Hill Garden – Haywards Heath

Saturday 17th October – Sunday November 1st

Spellbinding Halloween Trail: Join the Borde Hill Academy for Witches and Wizards and solve the mystery of the story trail around the gardens. £3 to complete the trail which includes a spellbinding prize (suitable for ages 3-8). All visits must be booked in advance. Cafe open for takeaway food and drink and the adventure playground will also be available.

Latchetts Farm – Uckfield

Pumpkin Picking will take place at Latchetts Farm during the weekend of October 17/18th then October 24th -31st. Free entry. Just turn up. Dog friendly. Please check their facebook page for updates before visiting.

Wakehurst

Gruffalo Trail: Explore the Gruffalo Trail, join the hunt for the Gruffalo Crumble or enjoy Gruffalo tales around the camp fire this Autumn half term at Wakehurst. Sessions need to be booked in advance. Please visit their website for more details.

Hever Castle

Saturday 24th – Sunday 1st

Don your best creepy costume for the fun pumpkin trail in the grounds or enter your own pumpkin masterpiece on social media using #HalloweenatHever. Make the most of the day by exploring the stunning grounds, play areas and of course the historic castle itself before finishing your visit off with a spooky treat from one of the on site cafes.

The Hop FarmPaddock Wood

Saturday 24th – Sunday 1st

Half-term fun at the farm! Treat the kids to a spooky day out while dressing up in your scariest outfit. Children’s rides, animal farm and more ghoulish fun!

Sharnfold Farm – Eastbourne

Sat October 3rd – Sat 31st October

Sharnfold will be offering pumpkin carving workshops and a spooky Halloween trail through their woodland. Booking is required for the pumpkin carving but not for the trail.

The Sealife Centre Brighton

17th October – November 1st

You are invited to help find the sea witches missing potion and solve a magical riddle to win a special Halloween treat. The Ascarium is an immersive trail where you will meet some of the ocean’s most weird and wonderful creatures!

Fright Night – Hailsham

Friday 30th and Saturday 31st October

THIS EVENT IS RATED 18+ Once again Acting Moon Events are putting on an incredible show this time to terrify even the bravest of us. Join them for their immersive theatrical production The Purge and The Carnival!

Phileas Fogg Vampire Experience- Brighton

12th October – November 1st

A seasonal twist on the usual Phileas Fogg experience – this adventure invites guests to help the world famous vampire hunter Van Helsing! Help him travel the world as you complete challenges set in your way. Recommended for ages 7+ and lasting 60 minutes.
