But what about the lesser known, hidden gems? I’ve been exploring some of the more exotic places that Destination2 offer in their collection to see what treasures they hold. These more obscure destinations may be a little harder to research or even travel to…but are often stand out in our memories as a richer travel experience. So which of these have you yet to experience? All 5 are have just been added to my list!

Dubai: Miracle Garden

Destinations2 Dubai Holidays offers the opportunity to embrace the enchanting Dubai Miracle Gardens. These vast gardens will allow you to immerse yourself among more than 50 million blooming flowers throughout different exhibits. Flowers are displayed in a range of pretty displays including love hearts and flower covered walkways.

Maldives: Village Life in Villimale

The quiet island of Villimale is just a short boat ride from the capital, Male. A visit to this pretty village offers more than the typical Maldives beach experience with the opportunity to meet local families and explore the pastel coloured local houses. The perfect way to get an understanding of Maldivian life.

Mexico: Cenote caves in Yucatan

These secret underground caverns are formed when limestone caves in, leaving a hole in the ground that leads to a pool of serene turquoise-coloured water. Some of the cenotes are part of a massive underground network of rivers and caves that remain unexplored. Others are the perfect spot for an afternoon swim or cave-diving experience.

Thailand: Pi Ta Kon Festival in Loei

Taking place in Loei Province the Phi Ta Khon sees locals dressing up as ghosts in bright colourful costumes. The event is also known as the Ghost Festival with the event lasting a number of days with magnificent parades with dance contests and participants ringing a loud cow bell as they march through the town.

Ras Al Khaimah

Ras Al Khaimah is the northernmost emirate of the United Arab Emirates and is the perfect destination for guaranteed sunshine all year round. Still in the early stages of establishing itself as one of the Middle Eastern winter sun destinations there are some real bargains to be found, especially in terms of inclusive holiday packages. Ras Al Khaimah offers families laid back beach holidays, a fantastic cultural experience and the Hajar Mountains for those who crave adventure.
