Dining out is never an easy task with a young family but the clever folk at Prezzo think they’ve come up with a solution. They have recently introduced the new La Famiglia sharing dish…catering to everyone’s needs and embracing the traditional Italian style of family dining. We were invited to take part in the #PrezzoLaFamiglia Challenge in conjunction with BritMums to find out exactly what is on offer.
La Famiglia sharing dish offers a choice of a bowl of Penne Arrabiata, Spaghetti Bolognese, Spaghetti Carbonara or Penne Alla Rusticana and is big enough to feed up to four people. The main menu offers this as dish for up to 4 people, served with two large garlic breads (or garlic bread with mozzarella) for just £18.90. This really appeals to us as we have a toddler who ‘sometimes’ eats and a fussy eater who ‘rarely’ eats when we dine out. We can often be left with two barely touched meals that might cost up to £20 worth of the bill. This option means that everyone can dip in as much, or as little as they like. As parents we can feel happy that even if the kids don’t eat a thing we won’t be out of pocket or resentful of spending money on pricey kids meals.
We ordered a plain garlic bread, a garlic bread with mozzarella, a spaghetti carbonara sharing dish with a mixed green salad and fries as our sides. We were really pleased with the portion size, presentation and range of dishes when our food arrived. The sharing dish arrived hot and we were prepared with serving utensils. The side salad was bright, crisp and fresh. The chips were crisp and crunchy..and the garlic breads warm, fluffy and light.
We served the children with a small portion of the spaghetti, bread, chips and some cucumber and peppers slices from the salad. My husband and I tucked into slightly larger portions of everything! We found the portions very generous and were unable to finish the main sharing dish despite returning for seconds…and maybe even thirds!
Despite the generous servings…we managed to save a tiny bit of space for pudding. We were offered a choice of ice creams for dessert: strawberry, chocolate or vanilla. We opted for a selection of strawberry and chocolate between us. We were served these promptly and the single scoop portion was just enough to leave us a sweet finish.
I think the La Famiglia is a great idea to offer families a good value meal that embraces the Mediterranean style of laid back, shared dining. We were really pleased with the food especially the fresh salad and the deliciously creamy carbonara. A pocket friendly way to spend relaxed family time together whilst enjoying excellent Italian cuisine!
