Free #TennisForKids aged 5-8 with the Lawn Tennis Association 

Some of my fondest memories from childhood summers are times spent playing tennis in our local park with my family. I have to admit I was never particularly good at the sport…I’m very short sighted and hand eye coordination was never my strongest point…but that didn’t matter because these family knockabouts were all about FUN! I recently found out about #TennisForKids, a project that the Lawn Tennis Association are running to encourage children to get a FREE taste of tennis. My daughter, Daisy is 7, the perfect age to try the sport..I would love her to experience of those happy, summer family fun times that I remember so fondly. I was keen to find out more about this project and how to get involved.

 

#TennisForKids, run by the Lawn Tennis Association is offering 20,000 free tennis sessions right across the country. The sessions are on offer to any child aged between 5 and 8. The fun starts on April 22nd 2017 with sessions running through into May and early June. Please check the website to find out where your local sessions are being held. The site is simple to use, you just type your postcode in the search bar and you’ll be given all the course choices local to you. I’ve signed Daisy up and was offered a choice of courses all within a few miles of us..at various times that suited our schedule. Plus if your child successfully completes the course of sessions they will be presented with their own tennis racquet. Be quick though!! These places get booked up very quickly! 

Daisy hasn’t played much tennis before..and I know she’s nervous about trying it out. However I feel confident that #TennisForKids is the ideal setting for a novice like her to build up confidence and skills in a fun environment. The sessions are specifically tailored to keep children engaged, even if they’ve never picked up a racquet before. The sessions include ball games to help hand eye coordination, soft balls, mini tennis courts and coaches trained in getting young novices excited and having fun. 

I think this is a wonderful opportunity to introduce our children to a new sport for absolutely free! Daisy starts her first session in our local tennis club at the end of April. Her course then runs every Friday for a course of 6 weeks…and she walks away with new friends, new skills, new confidence AND a tennis racquet! I’d love to encourage anyone reading this with a child aged 5-8 to investigate their local courses…what’s to lose!?
