Lambing Days in Sussex & Kent 2019

Nothing says Spring has sprung like a flock of boisterous lambs happily skipping across a fresh, green field. Here in Sussex and neighbouring Kent we’re lucky to be surrounded by stunning countryside and working farms, many of which now open their doors to the public throughout lambing season. A visit to an open lambing session can be an incredible experience for all ages…so take advantage of the season and head down to one of your local farms to meet a host of new arrivals..ducklings, calves, bunnies…and of course lambs. Here are just a few of the farms inviting you to meet their lambs this Spring:

Coombes Farm, Lancing

Coombes Farm will be open for visitors to come and see lambing and calving between March 16th – April 22nd from 9:30am – 4pm. Tractor rides will be available to see the animals in the fields and there’s even the option to visit at night! (Please check website for details). Entry for £3 for adults / £2 for children.

Open Farm at Middle Farm, Firle

Join lamb bottle feeding sessions will run from 10am – 5pm from April 1st-30th. Visitors can watch lambs being born live and attend the lamb bottle feeding events to feed the lambs themselves. The Farm is expecting around 100 fluffy lambs. £6 /person, understand 3’s are free. Visit their website to book your time-slot.

Tottingworth Farm, Broad Oak, Heathfield

Open from Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th March between 10am – 2pm. Pet the Lambs, Easter Egg Hunt, Bouncy Castle, Children’s Outdoor Play Area. Outdoor BBQ with Tottingworth Burgers and Hot Dogs. Cafe and Farm Shop open from Thurs to Sat 9am – 5pm and on Sunday 10am – 4pm.

Tablehurst Farm, Forest Row

Tablehurst is hosting two lambing days this year on Saturday 30 March and Saturday April 6th. Visitors can view the ewes and lambs in the barn, walk around the rest of the farm (which is always open to the public) and enjoy the organic cafe and barbecue.

Saddlescombe Farm, Brighton

Join Saddlescombe Farm near Brighton for their annual lambing open days on 30th, 31st of March & 6th and 7th April. You’ll have the chance to meet the sheep flock and if you are lucky even see a lamb being born.  Tractor and trailer rides are included subject to weather conditions. Adult £8 / Child £4 / Family £20 – Cash only. Be prepared for mud!

Hadlow Down College, Tonbridge

Hadlow College is holding it’s annual Lambing Weekend over the weekend of March 16 & 17th between 11am – 4pm. As well as meeting the newborn lambs visitors are invited to enjoy local produce, test their head for heights on the climbing wall, bounce around the party bus and watch the birds of prey display. Adults £7 / Child £4 discounts available when tickets bought online.

Four Winds Farm, Bidborough

Join the fun on Saturday 6th of April between 10am – 4pm with sheep shearing, face painting, ‘The Sheep Show’ and tea and cake on offer. Ages 3 – 16 £3, over 16’s £5 – cash only please!
